Capacity Optimizer

Product

On-site controller for real-time DC fast charging power allocation.

Industrial DIN-rail gateway that monitors site import via external meter, applies limits and priorities, and writes Modbus setpoints to supported chargers — fast enough to prevent overloads.

The hardware

CO-LB-100 Gateway

Installs like any DIN-rail controller. Speaks Modbus to your chargers, reads an external meter, and keeps the critical path on-site — no cloud round-trip.

Supply
9–30 V DC
Mounting
DIN rail
Temp range
−20°C to +60°C
Protocols
Modbus · M-Bus · OCPP*

OCPP available when needed — we prefer Modbus for robust, local charger control.

Where it sits

Between the grid connection, main meter, and your chargers — coordinating limits, priorities, and optional BESS or PV.

Control loop

A closed loop between the site main meter and DC fast chargers — measuring, deciding, and acting in real time.

  1. 01

    Measure site load

Reads real-time power from the site main meter, including building loads.

  2. 02

    Read charger status

Polls each DC fast charger over Modbus for status and active sessions.

  3. 03

    Apply limits and priorities

Uses configured site, feeder, and group limits plus priority rules.

  4. 04

    Send setpoints

Writes updated power setpoints to each charger, balancing active sessions.

  5. 05

    Monitor and fail over

Follows defined fallback behavior if communication or hardware fails.

Capabilities

What operators configure on site — beyond the control loop itself.

Priority rules

Configurable priority between bays, groups, fleets, or truck lanes.

Scheduled behavior

Time-based rules for how aggressively chargers may draw power in different windows.

Expandable and scalable

From small depots to large hubs and phased charger roll-outs.

BESS and PV coordination

Optional coordination with battery storage and solar where interfaces exist.

Optional add-on

Cloud monitoring

Secure portal for remote configuration, live monitoring, historical data, and system alerts.

  • Remote configuration and operational visibility
  • Historical trends and alerting (scope via add-ons)
  • Over-the-air firmware upgrades where included in your agreement

First year of remote access and upgrades is typically included; confirm exact scope in your proposal.

Why local

Power systems need fast, deterministic control — not cloud round-trips.

  • Sub-second response to load changes
  • Full operation during internet outages
  • Deterministic behavior — no dependency on cloud latency
  • Fail-safe defaults protect the site even during controller restart
